Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Key Principles

● Children’s welfare is paramount

● All children have the right to be safe, heard, and respected

● Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility

Safer Practice

● Enhanced DBS checks are held where required

● Appropriate staff ratios are maintained

● Clear boundaries and professional conduct are upheld

Recognising Abuse

Staff are trained to recognise signs of:

● Physical abuse

● Emotional abuse

● Sexual abuse

● Neglect

Responding to Concerns

● Concerns are recorded promptly and factually

● Immediate risks are reported to emergency services

● Referrals are made to local safeguarding authorities where appropriate

Photography & Mobile Phones

● Mobile phone use is restricted during sessions

● Children are never photographed without consent

Whistleblowing

Concerns about adults’ conduct should be reported to the DSL immediately
